All the Expressions You Need to Know
An everyday English expression appears. Say it out loud, the whole thing — that's the game, and the clock is running.
- A countdown of five gives you time to settle — the microphone only opens at zero.
- Change the pace whenever you like — the − and + on the play screen, or [ and ]. It takes effect at once, on the expression in front of you.
- Choose your round below — 1 to 10 minutes. Longer expressions are worth more, and you get longer to say them.
- You don't need it word-perfect: most of it, in roughly the right order, scores.
- Consecutive hits build a multiplier. Miss one and it resets.
- Hear it plays a native recording — the clock stops while it does.
- The French translation is shown by default and costs you nothing — switch it off with the button, or F, if you would rather work without it.
- Stuck? Press space to pass — it costs you 3 seconds.
- Pause any time with P. Pausing releases the microphone.
- Pick the lengths you want: shortest on the left, longest on the right. L brings the slider back mid-run.
- Wondering which expressions use a particular word? Find an expression (or /) searches all 840 mid-run — the clock waits.
